You are recommended to use the upgrade version (item 3) if you have GL already, the other installs will cause you to lose all your Fan Mission info (scores, reviews, etc) and settings from the previous version.
Thief 3 FM authors MUST download the GarrettLoader Author Pack for the IBT compression to work.
 To make things simpler you have 3 choices of how to install GarrettLoader.
- Choice 1) -- Full All In 1 Install, this contains the T3MAIN.EXE required to run thief 3 FMs
- Choice 2) -- Standard Install, this contains only the files required to run GarrettLoader itself (i.e. if you want to play anything EXCEPT Thief 3 or you have already downloaded the T3MAIN.EXE).
- Choice 3) -- Recommended Upgrade Only, you must have a WORKING version 1.23 or higher to use this. NOTE: simply run the upgrader exe, read the included readme first though.This keeps all your previous scores and settings unlike the other installs.
- Extra) -- T3MAIN.EXE editor version (no need to download if you have the All In 1 Install), this is required in order to run Fan Missions properly as without it briefings, objectives and custom graphics will NOT show properly or at all.
BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD: GarrettLoader requires MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) to be installed (preferably version 2.8 but earlier may work), this can be downloaded from the microsoft site. However if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 you should be fine and DO NOT need to download it.
Database errors when starting GarrettLoader is an indication that the currently installed MDAC is not compatable.
Also GarrettLoader requires approximately 7mb disk space to install and up to 50mb working space (this depends upon how many tools you plug in and the number of FMs you have). At least 128MB memory and 600MHz Processor (although the bigger the better).
GarrettLoader should run on any PC that can run Thief, however Windows 2000 and Windows XP are preferred.
